I also do guerilla performances outdoors that deal with the moment & often require instant decisions and improvisation - an exciting charge that I love. I am much influenced by the Fluxus Movement and chance. I enjoy the interaction with the audience in ways not always visible that performance creates.
-----
Usually I do solo performances and each run for approximately a half hour. Some of the performances mentioned here I do as solos, backed by a musician (Sean Carolan) playing guitar. Ghost Traveller II included a dancer, Nicole Lee.

“The Black Dress,” inspired by 30 black dresses from thrift shops, symbolically epitomized for me one model of womanhood to explore was first performed in 2012. To be the focus of their action, my actors selected one dress from a pile on the floor. My voice came over tape. I spoke about the BLACK DRESS and all that it symbolizes, from the LBT to the black dress of morning as well as the goth attire of teens. I wrote & researched the text & conceptualized this Butoh-like work with 5 women in white masks of varying ages and ethnicity. Charles Ditto created the music expressly for this work. The performers were myself, Tania Sen, Veronica Pena, Dee Dee Maguire and Amanda Flowers.
The Black Dress was selected to be part of Soho 20's Savoir Faire Performance Art Series in September 2012.

"The Invisible Woman" presented at Ceres Gallery and Viridian Artists in 2012, was first presented at Gallerie Nord in Austen, Texas in 2011. Dave Dorsey writes about the Viridian Artists version in his the dorsey blog, "represent." Click here to read it. Developed at a residency at NACL (North American Cultural Laboratory), I am addressing my fear of becoming/being an Old Lady.
"Dress" (at Dance Theater Workshop, June 2010. 7-minute video) After being awarded a 3 month workshop & rehearsal grant at Farspace through The Field, Nemec developed this nearly silent Butoh performance of a strange and unidentified female character. In “Dress” there are no words or sounds beyond a clock loudly ticking and the clanking of tin lids pinned to the dress as I dance – a crazy woman or homeless?
"F-Word" (at Dance Theater Workshop, December 2009. In progress) In this performance, a voice over reads from Simone de Bouvoir's "Second Sex" as Nemec explores thru Butoh Movement, our Feminist transformations.
Ghost Traveler II. "In this performance artwork, Nemec's version of Butoh movement & monologue both inspires and responds to the live guitar sounds of Sean Carolan and the dance of Nicole Lee representing Nemec's more youthful self."

Also, an improvisational performance called “Channeling Building” at the Maritime Building as part of David Byrne's Organ Installation in August of 2008. Billed as an “interactive installation” I presented a Guerrilla Butoh performance and interacted with other performers as well as the on-lookers.
